What is it about RED HAIR COLOUR we all love. It's vibrant, shiny, intense and makes a statement. First let me start by saying there's a red for everyone. Because reds range from warm, copper red tones to cool, violet reds tones, they really can work for anyone and with any skin tone. Todays red hair colour trends are multi-dimensional and natural looking...can we say that about bright red hair colours? When I say natural looking I mean the application methods lend themselves to a natural blend from dark to light, intense to subtle, leaving it gorgeously vibrant and full of life but still low maintenance. Did I say low maintenance red hair colour? Anyone who has had their hair coloured red knows they are anything but low-maintenance. Modern multi-dimensional hair colours are low maintenance because of the variations in tone and depth, so when it comes time to re-touch hair colour it is often as simple as a root application with a subtle pull through towards the ends. Not like back in the day when it would get pulled through the ends every visit causing damage over time and actually causing hair colour to fade - the healthier your hair is the less fading you will get and the better the results will be. So how can we keep our reds from fading? First, make sure it's done right to begin with. Depending on the colour your starting from it may need a filler to make sure the intensity can come out and it can last. Use a professional colour shampoo, don't wash it every day, condition (conditioner seals the cuticle locking in your colour), wear a hat, minimize heat treating/use protective products and get a colour protective treatment in the salon before you leave (all of our colour services at Angles Hair Studio include a colour protective treatment). HOT TIP: Turn down the heat! Blow dry on low heat and turn down the temperature on your heat styling tools . The healthier your hair is the better your colour results will be and the longer it will last so do whatever you can to get it healthy and keep it that way.
